School starts next week in this house.
We will officially be a family with all children in school.
Now, all these moms walk around, tearful, like their kids’ first days of school are the most sorrowful days to behold. There’s some sort of mommy code that requires us to cry when we witness the growth of the children whom we passed through our loins and all that junk.
And here’s the thing that I’ve recently learned:
All that moaning is mostly fake. Totally, mostly fake.
Personally? I am so beyond excited, I cannot qualify it. I’m busy thinking of all the things I plan to do while my kids are at school… I am literally giddy at the thought at this very moment. The day cannot come… soon… enough.
In my excitement (for the past two weeks), I have been planning my kids’ “first day of school” photos. Michael made these awesome chalkboards (I’m thinking about writing a how-to post for you. SOOOO easy … and super inexpensive) for me for my work-from-home gig (we use them to direct folks and other signage at our events), so I whipped up a little something in Photoshop to reproduce on the chalkboard.
The Stinkerelly can write. A lot (he’s pretty much glued to this thing these days). So, I thought I’d put him to work writing his own name.
Some pix of our process…
Did I mention I’m probably more excited than he is??
And did I mention that Stinkerbell goes to school in 3 weeks giving Mommy a grand total of SIX WHOLE CHILDLESS HOURS PER WEEK?!?!
