As folks are seeing my shoot around photography, I’m getting more and more requests for my photography of other people; mostly portraiture. That’s OK with me. I think I’m getting better at photographing adults … as long as they’ll actually smile. When they don’t smile, I just … sigh …
Anyway, my girlfriend needed a fresh head shot for an updated business card and business ad, so she asked me to try my hand at it before she shelled out a bunch of cash to someone else. I still had those cool alien bees and I really want to get better at head shots, so I agreed.
Of course I agreed!! Are you kidding me?!
So here’s my work:
Makin’ it rain Business card shot. She wasn’t sure about the office awards in the background, but I wanted to try it because I felt like it screamed success. Unfortunately, since I’m still working on learning how the 7D focuses, I didn’t quite catch her eyeballs. The focus is actually on her lower face’s skin & the hair tucked behind her ear. That’s really annoying.
Now, these were for fun…
I shot from slightly above her line of sight to pull her face toward me to decrease her jawline and shadows in the center of her face. (I read to do that on an instructional website.) This girl has HUGE eyes, so something I really worked hard to maintain was more iris/less whites.
This one says, “We know each other way too well for…”
She couldn’t believe I got these shots of her. Of course, I love her and this is simply what I see when she smiles. The fact that her skin is perfect is just annoying… 🙂
