A good friend of mine, who I consider to be quite money savvy, told me she used eBates. I had seen those commercials online and wondered how too-good-to-be-true it must be. But apparently, it’s not.
So I started using it for my Christmas shopping this year. And you know what? I buy exactly what I’ve always bought, but I periodically have money deposited right into my PayPal account. I mean, why would you NOT do this?!
I love that I can actually search on eBates for specific products and its search engine will bring up member websites that carry what I want AND they’ll compare prices and show me how much cash I’ll get back.
So here are some ways I’ve adapted my shopping…
For clothes & shoes, I try them on in the store and then locate them online (going through eBates) and make my purchase. Sure, it’s not as fun or immediate as walking out of the store with a bag of loot, but saving money is the game here!
For my payday grocery run, I’m trying to get used to Sam’s program that allows you to purchase your items online, they pull your order, and then you just go to your store and receive it.
***Speaking of “Sam’s” and “saving”, did you know that if you have a “Sam’s Plus” membership, you can make $10 cash back for every $500 you spend? It’s true. Our family purchases fuel (almost exclusively) and groceries at Sam’s every two weeks, so we easily hit $500 once a month. That’s a minimum of $120 of FREE MONEY every year. Why would you NOT do that?!
For other stuff, we generally make quick runs to Target when we need stuff, so shopping online is tough. It’s going to require some extra planning. But I’m working on it! Besides, planning better is better for the budget anyway.
Because of our current very limited budget, Sam’s and Target are just about the only places we’re spending money … BUT … eBates has all sorts of companies which carry everything from furniture to clothing to food to jewelry and everything you can imagine in-between. It has companies carrying super high-end products all the way down to the budget-friendly stuff I’m buying these days. I’m thinking just about the only things I can’t buy on there are houses and cars, and as much as the website has grown its offerings, I wouldn’t be surprised if they offered some sort of realty and auto components at some points. 🙂
**EBATES did NOT pay me to talk about it!!
